DON'T BE AFRAID TO TAKE ON NEW RESPONSIBILITIES

I heard a lovely thing this morning.

It was roughly this, Don't be afraid to take on a yolk, because with Jesus, the burden will be made lighter and the work you undertake will benefit you in some way, and prepare you for the future.
Jesus said, “come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yolk upon you and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly of heart, and you shall find rest for your souls, for my yolk is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

I remembered Joseph. He had burdens thrust upon him, burdens he would not have chosen for himself, but because God was with him, they helped him grow in patience, humility, and grace, and in the end they helped him save his whole family from starvation.

I also thought of a couple of ladies I have worked with who have had extra work thrust on them, with little appreciation or acknowledgement of their efforts, but who have said, “you know what? It doesn’t matter because I’m learning skills that will help me in the future.”
This attitude lightens the burdens, and with Jesus on your side too, as with Joseph, your future will amaze you.

So, I say, learn of Jesus, take on new responsibilities when they are offered you, and put God in charge of your future. He will never let you down, and when you look back on your life you can say, “Thank you Lord, with your help, I did that."

This is how I understand my God.
