KEPT ALIVE WITH THE WATER OF LIFE

I can’t remember what I was listening to, but I heard someone talk about the dry bones in Ezekiel 37 and it made me think of our churches.

In the scripture God is talking to Israel, saying that although Israel may be scattered and appear as dead as a valley of dry bones, he – God, would bring them back to life and to the land he gave them, which describes Israel’s situation from Just after Christ’s ascension to 1948. For those living then, who would have thought that Israel would become a nation again after so many years? yet ALL OF A SUDDEN, it happened just as God said it would.

It occurred to me that now, his church is looking very much the same. Faith in Christ seems to be diminishing and many churches have closed. His word has been watered down and compromised until it is hardly recognisable, and people have lost their faith. But as with the dry bones of Israel, God can breathe life back into our churches. He can use the few people of faith left and bring others in. But it is in his will, not ours that we need to live. A falling away has been foretold as has the opposition and ‘apparent’ overcoming of those who have faith in Christ*. But he will return and bring back life in full to those who kept their faith in him. His message is **hold out to the end!

Then the Lord we seek will suddenly appear and water the churches back into life, as prophesied in Malachai 4, where it is talking about Jesus 1st arrival, but it will happen again, Luke 21:34-35.

In the meantime, we must wait and pray – for strength for ourselves and others to stand in Christ, to keep fast hold of our hope in Jesus, to continue to work for those in need around us, and to never give up on love no matter what happens.

May his Spirit water our souls daily and keep us alive in Christ till his return. Amen.

This is how I understand my God.

Read for yourself, see what you think.
