THE BRIDEGROOM IS ON HIS WAY
When I was asking God what he wanted me to write for my next blog, I immediately thought, “The bridegroom is coming, get yourself ready.”
It took me by surprise, and I held back from writing it and doubted whether I had thought it up myself or whether it was from God. But I have decided that if it is from God, I must write it, so here it is.
Jesus is the bridegroom, we, (the church), are his bride. As the song goes, ’We are his portion, and he is our prize.’ We belong to Jesus, and he is our love and purpose. (John 3:29)
John 5:15 says ‘I am the vine and you are the branches.’ We can do nothing without him.
The bridegroom is coming back for his bride. We must be ready, because no-one knows the day or the hour when he will return.
That means, we must have him in our hearts, we must trust him, call on him and dress ourselves in love, patience kindness etc. because that is what he is looking for – he sees the inner beauty above the outward looks, and we must be waiting for him. Keeping him in our hearts and minds till he comes. Not getting distracted by the things of the world but being focused on his return.
We must be waiting for him expectantly, standing at the door with our lamps, (hearts), full of oil, (faith in Jesus). Not like the virgins who fell asleep and were not ready when the bridegroom arrived. (Matthew 25:1-13)
This could just be a message for me, but it may also be for you. So, let’s keep our eyes on the prize – Jesus!
Lord, may we be ready and waiting when you return to be caught up in your tender arms forever. Amen.
This is how I understand my God.
Read for yourself, see what you think.
