DO WE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE?

I have mentioned once or twice lately to different people about the fact that what we want may not be what we need, and God will give us what we need over what we want. He cannot give those who turn to him anything that is not good for them, it just sometimes takes us a while, maybe even a lifetime to recognize that he has not given us something we’ve asked for because it would have done us harm in some way.

When we pray, we need to believe he has not only heard us, but has responded in the right way for us, because when we acknowledge him as our God, he will always be for us and work for our good.

This is easy to say and hard to do…especially when we are in a long, difficult situation, like for instance, a relationship that leaves you feeling unsatisfied and at times, empty. What we tend to ask for is for the other person to go away or change, but maybe what we should be asking for is patience and understanding for our partner. Perhaps we should be thanking God for a kind loving husband/wife, and leave it up to him to find a way to change things…and by my experience, he will, but we must also be willing to acknowledge our own shortcomings and be prepared to make changes in ourselves because a relationship is a two way thing…..whether between us and our partner or us and God.

If we believe God loves us, believe he gave up his only begotten son to die in our place to bring us back to himself, we must believe that he is doing what’s right for us….. and think about what we are asking him to do.

The blood of Christ has given us a chance to come close to the Father so we can be confident in his ear for our prayers, but also his wisdom for our lives.

He knows what you need, trust him, he loves you. (Psalm 9:1, 18:3)

This is how I understand my God,

Read for yourself, see what you think.
