Our God sees our need and deals with it.
This week, as I was on the way to church, I called in to see if a friend was coming, only to find that I had missed her mom's birthday party which I had been invited to, and had agreed to go to.
Her mom is my neighbour, and it was her 90th birthday celebration. I was mortified and apologised profusely, making all sorts of suggestions as to why I had forgotten. My friend was not coming to church, so I went on. As I walked down the road, I was so angry with myself! I could not believe I had forgotten something so important. I was asking God why? Why do I forget important things? I was saying things like ‘I hate myself!’ ‘I don't want to be this way,’ and ‘why can’t I be reliable?’
I was close to tears all through the service, and as I was singing praises to God, (and meaning it), I was also feeling rubbish as a person and as a Christian.
At the end of the service, I could not stay to talk in case I cried, but as I went out of the door, a church member came over to tell me he had discovered my blog and liked what he’d read. We talked for just a few minutes, but in that time my spirits were lifted, and I came home feeling much more positive. I thanked God for forgiving my faults and using me even as I am!
If he can use me, he can use you.
If you put your trust in Jesus, He will not only help you to find your strengths, but also use those strengths to bless others in ways you never dreamed possible. For instance, couple of years ago, I certainly did not imagine that I would ever do a blog, yet here I am. I am effectively taking others on my journey with God. I write what I understand about Him at this moment in time. I am learning new things about Him and about myself all the time, even after being a believer for over 35 years.
I want to encourage you to begin your own journey with Jesus and see where He leads you.
He will build you up at your own pace, in your own unique way. You don't have to try to be like anyone else!
You can be sure of one thing, His great love for you as an individual.
Get yourself a Bible, ask Him to show you the truth, and He will reveal Himself to you.
Enjoy the journey.
