HE IS THE SAME TODAY AS HE WAS IN THE BEGINNING

How often do we say, 'Nothing ever changes?' Then life takes a sudden unexpected turn and changes completely!

A couple of weeks ago, my Step-dad had some very bad health news - Advanced cancer and a large aneurysm. Although he is in his 80's, this news was unexpected, and the prognosis is not good.

It makes me realise how much things can change in our personal lifetime. These changes can be sudden and make a huge impact on our lives, and they can leave us feeling very insecure about our future. However, God does not change. 'Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever!' (Hebrews 13:8)

John 1:1-5 says 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.'

In the beginning he was love. Now he is love. And in the end, he will be love. Love is his nature, otherwise he would have just swept us all away when we offended him. Instead He came down to meet us where we are.

He is the same loving God now as he was then. He has not changed. He still loves us now as he did then, that's why he came to be our living sacrifice. That's why he has forgiven us through that sacrifice - so that we can be with him and live with him where he is. His love endures forever, and his mercy endures forever. (Psalm 136:1-3).

When we turn to him, he turns to us. Psalm 54:4 says,

'Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life.

Hebrews 13:5 says 'Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: '“The Lord is my helper; I will not fear....'
We should praise our God for his love, in song or in prayer. Either way he will hear you.

He will always be there, waiting for you to turn to him in your hour of need, and he will make a way to either change your circumstances or help you cope - whichever is in his plans for you.

Trust in him, his love endures forever!

This is how I understand my God.
