I LOVE MY GOD

There are three things that I have read recently that are important to me. The first is for times when I am ridiculed for my faith or feel surrounded by things I do not like. Psalm 92 verses 5-7 reads;

'How great are your works O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! The dull man cannot know, The stupid cannot understand this – that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction for ever!’

The second thing is that even though I am getting older, I will not be useless. Psalm 92, from verse 11 reads,

‘My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies, my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants. The righteous flourish like the palm tree and grow like a cedar in Lebanon. They are planted in the house of the Lord, They flourish in the courts of our God. They still bring forth fruit in old age, they are ever full of sap and green, to show that the Lord is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.’

The third is the meaning of my Christian names.

My first name means ‘prosperous friend’ and my second, ‘Jehovah has been gracious.’

What better names could I have than these?

I don’t believe I was named accidentally. I believe that I was named to show God’s grace, favour and glory in my life. With His help, I will succeed in everything he has planned for me, and no obstacle will be too big for Him to overcome.

This has been a comfort to me since I read it, and has come just at a time when I needed to know it. I think I have said before that God gives us what we need, when we need it, and this is a good example.

So as for me, Through Jesus, I will flourish into my old age and be full of sap and green.

Praise the Lord!

This is how I understand my God
