WHEN YOU HEAR GOD'S VOICE
When you feel that God is asking you to do something, you must be courageous.
In Joshua chapter 1, God is telling Joshua that he must be strong and courageous because he is going to lead the Israelites into battle to take the land that he promised to Moses.
He also tells him to continually meditate* on the book of the law which He gave to Moses, and by doing this and obeying God's law, he would be successful in everything he does - including in battle.
Going into battle was not something to do lightly and was probably alarming for Joshua to hear, but God tells him, "do not be afraid, be strong and very courageous because I am with you and you will succeed."
Since Jesus came and fought our battles for us on the cross, we are no longer under the law, but are under God's grace. We do not have to physically go in and fight for land. Our fight is in the spiritual realm, where the devil tries to turn us away from our Heavenly Father, but the message from God is the same, when you come against difficulties and fearful things;
'Be strong and very courageous, do not be afraid because I am with you, and with me you will succeed, Meditate on my word.'
This is how I understand my God.
Read for yourself, see what you think.
*The Hebrew word for meditate, means 1/ hearing in one's mind, 2/groan, sigh, speak.
