CENTER YOURSELF IN JESUS.
When I found out that the school was closed and I wouldn’t be at work this morning, I decided to take advantage of the time and do a blog. I didn’t know what to write about, so I prayed and opened my bible. It opened on Lamentations chapter 1, so I read for a while. My attention was taken to 1:18 where it says ..’The Lord is righteous, yet I rebelled against his command.’
I kept reading, and a note at the bottom of the page led me to Isaiah 7:9, ‘If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.’ I carried on reading and my attention was taken to 8:11-15, ‘“The Lord spoke to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people. Do not call conspiracy everything that they call conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as Holy. He is the one you are to fear, and he is the one you are to dread, and he will be a sanctuary, but for both houses of Israel he will be a **stone that causes men to stumble and a **rock that makes them fall…..”’ (Chapter 9 has couple of references to the birth of Jesus, and his status. As does 7:14).
As I thought about it, I wondered if God was pointing out to me that this world is like the world at that time, when His people were rebellious – rejecting His way and were full of fear and doubt.
More and more people are turning away from God and looking to themselves to make their own way in the world. The problem is that we are all individuals and what we like, others hate, so there is conflict and dissatisfaction. There are also a lot of conspiracy theories floating around now, some of which I’ve thought could be true, but our Heavenly Father, says, do not join in with these things and do not let the fear of what may be interfere with your faith. He says He is the one you should be worried about, (because ultimately, he is the one with your future in His hands), so stand firm in your faith. Stand in the Him and the one he sent – His Son, who is called ‘Wonderful counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of peace….’because the time is coming when Jesus will return, then, ‘Of his government there will be no end…’ (Isaiah 9:6-7).
Do not Fall on the rock but be upheld by him during these difficult times. He is the cornerstone, the rock on which people will stand or fall. Jesus has pre-warned us of these times in Matthew chapter 24 and in Revelations. It makes for scary reading, but if you read what Jesus says to the churches in revelations chapters 2 and 3, he always ends with promises for, ‘those who overcome/ hold out to the end…’
Center yourself with Jesus. Read about him, Focus on him. Let Jesus be your sanctuary, your counsellor, your peace.
He is our refuge in times of trouble and our hope in times of fear. Stand firm in him until the end and he will come and bring you to be with himself. (John 6:37-40).
This is how I understand my God.
Read for yourself, see what you think.
