HOW MIGHTY IS OUR GOD

The first mention of His Right hand, I found in the concordance in my bible, was in Exodus 15:6

Here Moses and Miriam are singing praises to God for all the things God has done. Verse 6 says ‘Your right hand, O Lord, was majestic in power, your Right hand, O Lord, shattered the enemy.’

As I read it through I thought, Jesus sits at God’s right hand, (Mark 16:9, Acts 2:33, Hebrews 1:3). 1 Peter 3:22 says ‘..who has gone into heaven and is at God’s right hand – with angels, authorities and powers in submission to him.’

John says at the beginning of his book, ‘In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that was the light of all mankind…………’  So the Father speaks and Jesus is the action, or evidence of God’s voice.

Psalm 48:10 reads, ‘…your right hand is filled with righteousness’ and we know that righteousness comes to us through Jesus, (Romans 5:17, Phillipians 1:11, 2 Peter 1:1). Because of the righteousness in Jesus, righteousness is credited to all those who believe in him.

All these things are bought to us through Jesus. (Psalms 80:7, 89:13 & 91:7, 110:1). So if, when you read, ‘his right hand, ‘you substitute, ‘Jesus,’  you get a better understanding of the power that Jesus had in the beginning, which he gave up to come down and save us, and the of the power he has now taken up at the right hand of the Father, who has given everything to his Son with whom he is well pleased. (Matthew 3:17, Mark 1:11, Luke 3:22).

But although it brings blessings to those who believe, it brings destruction on the wicked, Exodus 15:12 says, ‘you stretch out your right hand and the earth swallows them up.’ (his enemies). (see also, psalms 21:8 & 110:5).

Whichever way you look at it, Jesus is in everything and everything is in Jesus, and we also have his comforter, the Holy spirit, whom Jesus left with us to guide us.

So, when you are going through trials, don’t give up because the right hand of the Lord is with you.

When you don’t want to get out of bed for dread of what the day will bring – his hand is upon you.

When you don’t know who to trust. His hand is upon you

When you don’t know how you are going to feed your children, his hand is upon you.

And as Zephaniah 3:17 says, ‘He is mighty to save’

I may have told this before, but when I was small, My mom had a Christmas when she had 5 or 6 six children and little money or food, (yet we were always content with what we had).  Anyway, she popped over to give her aunt a card on 23rd December, and her aunt asked if she was prepared for Christmas. Mom said, “Oh yes, I’ve got a little chicken, a few veg’s and some stuffing, and I’ve got a packet of trifle mix for after tea.” Her aunt said, “Is that all?” Mom said, “yes, it’s enough to have a nice treat." So, her aunt went and fetched a bowl of cream she had bought back from her catering job and a box of biscuits, and gave them to mom.

The next day, a neighbour’s son bought round a small string bag of nuts, apples and oranges that his dad had won in a raffle and sent up to see if we would like them as they had already got some, so mom saved them for a surprise on Christmas morning.  And on Christmas eve, an uncle bought round a cockrel he’d been given at work, saying he couldn’t use it, but would we like it? We all helped to pluck it and watched mom clean it out, then had to tidy up all the little feathers that had floated round the room. We had it for Christmas lunch. It was a feast for us and very much appreciated, but not at all expected. We were never a religious family, but I believe that someone prayed hard for us continually, and my God heard them and watched over us.

I believe that God saw mom and us children and blessed us through those people. His right hand was over us that year and, although I didn’t know it until much later on, he has been with me all my life.

And I praise him for all he has done.

This is how I understand my God. (hope I haven’t waffled too much and you understand what I’m trying to say).
