FOR HIS WILL

While reading Romans 9:16-33 this morning, I came across, ‘It does not depend, therefore, on man’s desire, or effort, but on God’s mercy. For scripture says to Pharoah: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” (Exodus 9:16).  Therefore, God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy and hardens whom he wants to harden.

We are all made perfectly to fit His purposes, and we all have a role to play in his works. He can use us all, within our different personalities, to achieve his will. When we are all standing before him, he will love us all equally because we have fulfilled our purposes for his glory.

We need to remember it is for HIS glory and not ours that we work. Not only that, but our works cannot achieve anything like his works in and through us. We must also remember that he loves us, because without that love, we are all just pawns to be played with, (as Satan uses us), but with that love – the love of a Father for his dearly beloved children, we are part of his family, and part of his plan and his glory. We will share in his glory in the end, not because we earned it, but because he loved us enough to give up his son to the cross for us, and we did our part by believing in his Son. (Romans 10:9-13).

I am reminded right now of Psalm 51:17 'The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; A broken and contrite heart God will not despise.' I think this means, if we are truly sorry for what we've done and we really want to change, He will not turn his back on us, and He has been known to change his mind when someone truly repents! (See Ninevah in the scriptures of Jonah).

If we put our trust in the Father’s love for us, and we look to Jesus for our salvation, then, when the time comes, the Holy spirit that we carry within us, will vouch for us.

This is how I understand my God.
