HOW DO WE GET TO HEAVEN

While listening to a sermon on you tube, the preacher mentioned briefly that it is not by being good that we get to heaven, but by believing and I thought this was worth mentioning because you often hear people say, “I am a good person,” or “I do my best to do the right things.” But is this enough? Is this what Jesus said would get you to heaven?

This is what Jesus said. “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

He is saying, to get to heaven, you have to believe in him. That’s it. There is no other way. If there was another way, he would have told us, but he said, ‘No one gets to the Father except through me.’

Brothers and sisters, it is only through faith that we become acceptable to God. Yes, he wants us to be good and kind to each other, yes, he wants us to do good works and leave behind our past behaviours, but good works alone are not enough. It is faith that counts to God. Do you believe in him? do you trust him with your life? Will you follow Christ first? Seek first the kingdom of God, and all things will be given to you. (Matthew 6:33). All things here mean, all that you need.

Look up faith and see what it means to God. I use Bible Gateway.com. It is very illuminating when you see how many times God mentions faith/faithfulness/faithfully. It is important to him. More important than good works.

This is how I understand my God,
