WE ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH
At a church meeting this week, the minister read from Matthew 5, about how we are salt to the world. As she was speaking, I remember thinking, “well I don’t feel very salty Lord.” Then this thought immediately came to my mind.
A little salt makes a big difference!
It is true. A pinch of salt in the dough makes the bread taste good. I was grateful to the Lord for accepting my feelings and for telling me that I can make a difference, even as I am.
Although I tend to chatter a lot, I am not good at answering questions because my mind goes into panic mode, and I can’t grasp the thought I need. I start thinking of several ways to say something and all sorts of possible replies to what I’m saying or about to say all at the same time, so I start stumbling over my words and getting very confused. I get crowded out by my own thoughts, but I can write them down because I can read it as I go and filter out all the fluff so that I can, hopefully, make sense. Not when I’m rushed though, which is why some of my blogs may seem disjointed and have spelling mistakes. But still, I’d rather do it than not, and pray that God can help the reader understand what he wants them to know.
Also, when you think about it, too much salt in one go spoils the food, so maybe we should sprinkle little bits of salt into people's lives as we walk through our life with Jesus. With our words and actions, within God's will, we will be making lives better by bringing the good news of Jesus to them.
If he can use me, he can use you. May we all be at least a little salt to someone.
Praise the Lord for seeing our strengths (which we don’t often see in ourselves), and using them, and even our weaknesses, to his Glory!
This is how I understand my God.
Read for yourself, see what you think.
