BE READY

Our sermon at church this week was ‘Are you ready?’ ‘Are you ready for Christ’s return?’

Then, as I was beginning to write this blog, I put Christian piano music on the T.V. and on the screen was Psalm 91:1
‘He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.’

I thought…”Mmm, I think I am being told something here.”

Both of these sayings are reminders that we should be focussed on the Lord, because where the eyes of our heart focus, that is where we abide/live.

If we keep our eyes on Gold and the making of money, that is where we live. If we keep our eyes on the Lord, that is where we live. Do you understand? What we focus on fills our hearts and minds and therefore, we live in and for those things.

I have often been accused of having my head in the clouds, and been upset by their implication, but do you know what? They are right, and I am so glad that my God has called me towards him. I talk to God most of the time, often in whispers, sometimes out loud, (which can be a little embarrassing when I realise others may hear), but I talk to him – not that always say or do the right thing…I am not that good, but Jesus is my closest friend, whom I can talk to about anything without fear of being rejected. He will not always agree with my thoughts and will guide to better thinking, but he will not abandon me because I make mistakes. But am I ready for his return?

When I look at the evil in this world, I would say definitely – “Yes…hurry up Lord.” But when I look at my unbelieving family and friends I’d say, “Not yet Lord, they need more time.”

Yet I know that the time is drawing near because of the evidence in the world, the words of Jesus, and the many scriptures throughout the bible. I, like many others, have stopped listening to the news because it is so depressing, but maybe we should not only listen, but open our eyes to the times we are living in, and pray for strength.

Changing weather and losing of the seasons, children becoming more and more disobedient and self-centred, People trying to change the laws of God, I.e. choosing or changing what sex they are. (Not trying to trample on people’s feelings, but knowing this is a sign), People losing their love and charity because of the evil in everything. People looking to make their own god’s or even make themselves their own god….a phrase I’ve heard recently. And many more things prophesied throughout the bible point to the end times.

It may not be yet, but who knows except the Father?

We need to stand firm in our faith. Be ready to tell others about him – in spite of the ridicule or scorn it may bring. We need to be ready to see him, so that when we see him, we can stand in and with him. **

Because when the *bridegroom returns, it will be too late to change your mind.

This is how I understand my God.

Read for yourself, see what you think.

*Matthew 25:1-13

** Psalm 91:14-15

Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
15He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honour him.
