DON'T OVERCOMPLICATE FAITH

While watching an online sermon today, this thought came to mind… “Keep it simple.”

When you read about Jesus’ life, you see that he had many difficult situations, The Pharisees and Saducees were constantly trying to trip him up, crowds followed him everywhere asking for help or healing. He got tired, but he never lost his sense of peace. He didn’t allow the devil to complicate his mind, saying “Get behind me Satan.” (In other words, “stop bothering me!”).

He had a great sense of peace in knowing that he had a great and loving Father who cared for him, and a good future ahead of him. So, whatever happened, he knew in the end, everything would come right. He just had to stay faithful to the end – which he did.

This is what we are called to do. To Love God with our whole being and to love our neighbours as ourselves . (Mark 12:30-31). When we do these, we will naturally do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6:8)

He will not leave us on our own – even though we feel alone sometimes, he is still there waiting for us. This is our peace; ‘everything works together for good to those that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.’ (Romans 8:28)

Jesus knew this and it kept him going. We are called to follow Jesus’ example. This means as we go about our daily business, we remember always that not only are we are loved and highly favoured of the Lord through Jesus, but that all things work together for our good and his glory!

This is how I understand my God.

Read for yourself, see what you think.
