I heard a couple of talks this morning.

One was saying that Jesus came to release us from the curse that Adam bought into the world and to lay hands on the needy. I have read somewhere in the bible that the whole world groans under the curse of the fall of Adam and Eve.

I understand this to mean that through eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they were choosing to get knowledge without God, in doing this they chose life without God’s blessings. The consequence of their actions? - Pain, strife and death were bought into God’s perfect world. And now, this imperfect world needs saving!

Paul, when talking to the church at Corinth in 2 Corinthians 6:1-2, quoted a passage from Isaiah 49:8-9 which says;

“In the time of my favour I heard you,

In the day of salvation, I helped you”

Paul went on to say, “I tell you NOW is the day of salvation.”

The speaker explained that the word salvation in Isaiah 49:8 is the Hebrew word Yeshuwah, in English - Jesus, which, when looked up on google, means ‘relief’ in the sense of being rescued from an enemy, trouble or illness.

In Greek it is written as Sitiria, Romanised as Soteria which means deliverance and preservation from harm. (‘Wholeness, soundness, prosperity, health and protection). So, Jesus is literally all these things. And the TIME of salvation is from the resurrection to the judgement.

So, if I understand it right, we are living in the time of salvation right now. Now is the time (as the saying goes), to accept salvation – before it is too late.

This is how I understand my God.
